Party in the Park Raises $1.75M for Yellowstone Academy

Houston, Texas: Yellowstone Academy announced today that the Party in the Park event to celebrate the Academy’s 15th Anniversary was a phenomenal success raising just over $1.75 million on April 5, including a $200,000 commitment for capital improvements from Building New Foundations.

The event, chaired by Claudia and Brad Freels and Marian and Willie Langston, took place at Levy Park and was attended by nearly 600 guests.

Party-goers arrived at the Park and danced to popular hits played by The Drywater Band. A delicious party-themed menu was provided by Pappas Catering and the popular SMOOSH ice cream sandwich truck was onsite for dessert. Guests enjoyed sporting fun party gear such as glow-in-the-dark bracelets and light-up cups. Exotic supercars were available for preview, and guests could purchase raffle tickets for a six-month membership with the Ecurie25 Supercar Club. Café lighting overhead, farm-style wooden tables, and plenty of room for dancing provided an elegant yet casual setting.

“The Party in the Park was the culminating celebration of our 15th Anniversary, and we are excited as we prepare for a bright future with our students here in the Third Ward,” said Ryan Dolibois, executive director. In his remarks, Dolibois excitedly shared more about Yellowstone's strategic vision to grow to serve nearly 1,000 students annually over the next five years through the launch of Yellowstone College Prep. This new school will be co-located with the Academy and will grow to serve students in 5th through 12th grade.

The program gave a brief overview about Yellowstone and featured three special honorees: Quantum Energy Partners, Stephanie & Frank Tsuru and the school’s founding executive director Kim Hansen. As the program concluded, guests pulled out their mobile phones to send in their support via text message. Then the party swung into high-gear and the rain held off just long enough to end the evening on a high note.

Founded in 2002, Yellowstone Academy is the premier Christian private school in the heart of Houston’s Third Ward serving students in pre-K3 through 8th grade. Yellowstone Academy’s vision is a Houston community where every child receives an education that cultivates their intellect, nourishes their spirit, and empowers them to create a fulfilling future.
